Research on doctoral education is a cornerstone of MIRIKA Foundation’s programme portfolio, reflecting its commitment to strengthening higher education and advancing knowledge production across Uganda and Africa. The Foundation will undertake rigorous, evidence-based research to document the quality, accessibility, governance, supervision, funding, and outcomes of doctoral education, with particular attention to the challenges and opportunities facing African universities. By generating high-quality evidence, fostering collaboration among universities, policymakers, and development partners, and translating research into actionable policy recommendations, MIRIKA Foundation aims to contribute to the development of responsive, inclusive, and globally competitive doctoral education systems that cultivate the next generation of researchers, innovators, and academic leaders.
