Linking PhD research outputs to industry is a strategic programme pillar of MIRIKA Foundation, aimed at transforming doctoral research into practical solutions that drive innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development. The Foundation fosters strong partnerships between universities, industry, government, and the private sector to ensure that doctoral research addresses real-world challenges and market needs. We also create spaces in which stakeholders share there research needs that can be prioritized by PhD researchers.

It is these and more insights that inform the Foundation’s work that links PhD research outputs to industry. Activities here include organising and hosting the Annual MIRIKA-Research Expo.
Objectives
1. To bridge the gap between Uganda’s PhD research outputs and the priorities/needs of Government, Private sector, Civil Society and Development Partners. (relevance, timeliness and application).
2. Demystify PhD level education to inspire more Ugandan youth to carry out research.
3. Establish MIRIKA Foundation as the leading convener of Uganda’s PhD community.
Expected Outcomes
1. New Partnerships and research investment opportunities: The Expo expects to trigger at least 5 follow-up meetings between researchers and industry players (Government, Private sector, Civil Society and Development partners).
2. Scalable Solutions showcased: With 40 exhibitors and a business R&D showcase opportunity built into the Expo structure, the expo gives all researchers a platform to demonstrate what they are studying, its relevance and scalability.
3. Publication: MIRIKA Foundation will produce a publication of all exhibited and business R&D research projects.
